We study global insect diversity with a current focus on bees and related wasps of Southeast Asia. One of our key goals is to develop the taxonomic infrastructure needed to support studies of insect urban ecology, behaviour, and conservation. We maintain and continually improve global literature and specimen databases relevant for investigating global and regional patterns of bee diversity and conservation.
Through collaborations with colleagues in the region and beyond, we are discovering new bee species and life histories and exploring their molecular diagnostics and population genomics. Our outreach includes support of global citizen science databases and holding workshops in Singapore and in other countries to advance knowledge of insect diversity.
